Baby Bridges Playgroup for Babies and Toddlers with a Disability
Sunshine Butterflies has been delivering an Early Intervention Program to assist babies and toddlers with a disability as part of the Baby Bridges program funded by the Horizon Foundation and Qld Government (Dept. Of Communities).
Sunshine Butterflies has enhance the successful Baby Bridges program by introducing both Aqua Therapy and a Jump Bunch playgroup. The program is available for children between 0-5 years of age with various disabilities. This fun FREE program provides a variety of activities and exercise over a 6 week period. The sessions are attended by a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Australia Coach and a Special Education Instructor. Coffee and cake are also provided.
In the warmer months throughout Term 1 & also Term 4 we will being doing an aqua therapy playgroup and for those cooler months, Term 2 & Term 3 we will be doing Jump Bunch playgroup.
Little ones will enjoy the water, develop water confidence and swimming skills, improve their ability to play socialise and move all while helping with balance, co-ordination, developmental delay and low or high muscle tone.
While children are enjoying the aqua playgroup with our play helpers, parents are supported by the programs facilitator who provides information, advice, tips, hints, resources and referral to other government or community initiatives to assist with the care of the child and to strengthen the families knowledge about other areas of support.
Little ones will improve their ability to play, socialise and move, all while helping develop their balance, co-ordination, developmental delay and low or high muscle tone. Jump Bunch is held in an air-conditioned room, and as part of the program, uses music, song and games to stimulate your child’s physical development, self esteem and confidence.
While children are enjoying the Jump Bunch playgroup with our play helpers, parents are supported by the programs facilitator who provides information, advice, tips, hints, resources and referral to other government community initiatives to assist with the care of the child and to strengthen the families’ knowledge about other areas of support.
